The Toledo Botanical Garden (TBG) offers visitors the chance to appreciate, share, and learn about cultivated beauty. With more than 60 acres of display gardens and interesting plant collections, the TBG is a serene setting that offers opportunities for exploration and introspection.

They have events such as Yoga in the Garden and Jazz in the Garden. Visitors to the garden can find out more about the various annuals and perennials and how they can incorporate those plants into their own landscapes. The Toledo Botanical Garden also owns the region’s largest public sculpture collection.

At Fossil Park, take part in the magic of both traveling through time and discovering the remains of the past. In a secure, controlled environment, you can search for famous fossils at Fossil Parks’ 5-acre rock quarry. The samples were brought in from a quarry and are already in soft shale that can be broken with bare hands. Bring the artifacts home after a tiring day of excavation so you can keep learning about them! This park is ideal for all ages and offers the ideal mix of learning and fun!

Wildwood has the most visitors out of the 19 parks in the Metroparks Toledo district. The chief attraction at Wildwood is its system of trails that wind through a variety of terrain. The park has sand soil typical of the incredibly rare Oak Openings Region and is divided by the Ottawa River.

The preserve also has the family home of spark plug magnate Robert A. Stranahan Sr., which is built in the Georgian colonial style. The park also houses one of the last publicly accessible gardens designed by Ellen Biddle Shipman.
